Prayers for the Catholic Church 4: Whole.Healthy.Holy

I'm writing and praying a prayer a day for the next 9 days (a novena) as a response to the sexual abuse crisis, homophobia crisis, sexuality crisis, gender crisis, misogyny crisis, and honesty crisis in the Catholic church- particularly as it has been expressed in the Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report. 

Whole, healthy, and holy all share a common root.




Wholly present God,
Grant in us the endurance to examine, with you, the whole structure of the church and all of us in it.

Healer not from balm and medicine but of touch and shared meals.
Heal our ill health.
Heal the places we will let you.
Heal our wounds.
Heal our minds that have seen the cruelty we offer,each other.
Make the scar tissue of this pain become our wisdom.

Holy. Holy. Holy.
God.

Make us a holy people,
Who can love in whole and healthy ways.
