Poetry: End of Maternity Leave

Maternity leave is nearly over
and I'm nearly set free--
to do the work I am paid to do.

To arrive at a set time.
to manage my own projects.
To be in relationship with people who are not so honest.
Or so mean.
Or so sweet.
Or so cute.

Nearly set free to leave at the end of the day and think about it when I want.
To clean up my own messes.
To close the door and lock it without a single negotiation.
