Parenting Patterns
There is a pattern emerging in my experience of parenthood. It goes something like this:
I am totally overwhelmed by my child and thinking I wish I didn't have a child. Fantasies revolve around pre-child time and post child time.
Slowly figuring out how to deal with this phase. Overwhelmed moments start to diminish. I am, once again capable of being alone.
Finally, I enjoy being a parent again. I am creative about ways to be with her in this new phase and we enjoy one another.
Repeat.
Right now. We are in stage 1 again of toddlerness. We are in this place of strong opinions, few opinions, total mobility and moderate danger. Getting through, hopefully stage two is right around the corner!
