Whats up

So I don't have a ton of insight or any particularly deep thoughts. Sean and I are 5 weeks into this parenthood thing and our baby has discovered the wonders of crying. Which is to say she is crying a lot more and frankly I don't think she knows why any more than we do. We've had several rough inconsolable nights in the past week and are struggling with dealing with it in terms of getting enough sleep, emotionally checking out, and trying to stay connected to one another.

So even though we are feeling inadequate at meeting the emotional needs of our child we are excited that her eye contact is getting a ton better and she has offered us a few hopeful and seemingly intentional smiles. There is hope that somewhere in our bundle of instincts is a person with an individual personality to go along with it.

More to come I'm sure.

  1. I'm sure this is little consolation in the throes of newborn-baby parenthood, but the "it gets progressively worse until 6 weeks and easier after" thing has proven true with both our kiddos. We love you!
